This is Catherine Polgar. She’s beautiful, right? She was a straight A student, she bought her tickets to prom, she had enrolled in Salem State College to become a teacher. She appeared like she had everything going for her.
On May 17, 2009 Cate Polgar committed suicide. A girl who everyone thought had it all, didn’t. She was battling a lot within herself. She was a senior at my high school when I was a sophomore. I never got the privilege to get to know her personally, but I did get the privilege to meet her younger sister Jennie. Last year I had a class with Jennie. She was a freshman and I was a junior, and since then she’s been a part of my life. She’s been one of the few true people who have stuck around this year for me, and I’m amazed by how strong of a young woman she is.
I would appreciate if people reblogged this, just to show that the ‘popular’ ‘outgoing’ ‘perfect’ people in high school don’t always have everything together. Everyone has struggles, and I believe people should treat everyone they know and meet with respect, because you never know what they are battling.
Please reblog this, and maybe think of the kids who you think don’t have a worry in the world. They do, trust me. Rest in Peace Cate.
